Every first Saturday in May, sports fans and horse enthusiasts from all over the world turn their attention to Louisville, where the Kentucky Derby – a 150-year-old horse race that’s been called “The Most Exciting Two Minutes in Sports” – takes place. In the weeks leading up to the big day, tourists flock to town by the thousands to enjoy the rose garlands, mint juleps and other classic elements of this unforgettable event. And then, of course there are the “Derby Hats” of all styles and colors, worn by race fans who want to take part in the fun.

For custom-hat designer Angie Schultz, U-Haul makes it possible for her to transport hundreds of hats throughout Louisville in the days leading up to the race and to sell them to people on the lookout for stylish headwear. For Schultz, designing hats isn’t just a job…it’s a calling. “I love helping people feel beautiful!” Schultz described. “I feel like Derby is a time where people – particularly women – can shine and feel their best. When they find the perfect hat to go with their Derby outfit, they start strutting their stuff with the biggest smile on their face.
